The Klodic family established Sant’Elena in the hills of what was then Austria’s Fruili region in the 19th century. Today, this is the heart of Italy’s finest white wine region best known for vibrant Pinot Grigio and Tocai Friulano. Sant’Elena’s Mil Rosis is something else entirely. A blend of 70% Chardonnay, 20% Traminer, and 10% Riesling Renano. The Chardonnay ages in French Oak for 12 months while the Traminer and Riesling are done entirely in stainless steel. The result is an extremely cool wine! Aromas and flavors of white anise and ripe peach framed by fine acidity and minerality. Layers and layers of complexity, vibrancy, and fruit on the long finish.
"Intense and flavorful, with apple, honey and kiwi pie character. Full and layered, with loads of character. Fascinating. Chardonnay, Traminer and Riesling. Drink now. 810 cases made."Wine Spectator 90 points
