Serious mountain Zin for serious Zinfandel fans. Green & Red was a pioneer of high-elevation Zinfandel, starting their mountainside plantings in 1972. The Chiles Mill Vineyard rolls from elevations of 1,000 to 1,700 feed overlooking Chiles Canyon and the remnants of pioneer J.B. Chiles grist mill. Vigerous aromas and flavors of dark red berries, black pepper, Christmas spice, rose petals and anise. The wine is very intense but also sharply delineated with a mineral edge and not at all over-ripe. Drinks well on its own and with anything grilled or roasted. Very impressive!
