- Tablas Creek Vineyard Patelin De Tablas Rouge 2011 Product #26322 (In Stock)
-
-
Another fine vintage for Tablas Creek's "intro" wine made from a blend of fruit from the estate and purchased from neighbors and friends. Rich and fun to drink!
"The 2011 Patelin de Tablas is slightly richer than the 2011 owing to the greater presence of Syrah. Dark red cherries, flowers and tobacco wrap around the deep, expressive finish. Today, the 2011 shows some of the effects of its recent bottling, but it should come together nicely over the next few months. The 2011 is 52% Syrah, 29% Grenache, 18% Mourvedre and 1% Counoise. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016."Wine Advocate 89 points

As with the 2009, there’s just so much to love about this wine. Start with Bandol’s Mourvedre grape in the staring roll – there are a whopping 11 acres of it in all of Napa, so you don’t often see it playing the lead. Then, add red fruit from juicy Grenache and blue fruit and minerality from 110 year-old Carignan grown at the end of Pickett Road in Calistoga (right next door to one of California’s best and most famous Cabernet vineyards). Round things out with a bit of meaty Syrah and juicy, structured, Petite Sirah, and you’ve got a luscious, highly drinkable, red that will knock your socks off. While still tightly wound, it’s clear that the 2010 edition of Ritual is even more pure, deeply flavored, and complete than the outstanding 2009. There’s not very much wine like this made in Napa, still less at this price point. Grab it now.
“47% mourvedre, 21% carignane, 15% grenache, 12% petite sirah and 5% syrah. Deep ruby-red. Sexy aromas of blackberry, cracked pepper, flowers and spices. Cool, spicy and aromatic in the mouth, with blue and black fruit flavors lifted by flowers and white pepper and given structure by firm tannins. This bottling features the highest percentage of mourvedre yet, notes winemaker Mike Hirby, as well as 110-year-old carignane vinified with whole clusters. Really lovely aromatics here.”International Wine Cellar 92 points
“Slow to reveal all its charms, with supple, ripe plum and blackberry fruit woven among crushed rock, cedar and sage notes, this red offers a delightfully teasing mix of flavor, texture and surprising subtleties. Mourvèdre, Carignane, Grenache, Petite Sirah and Syrah. Drink now through 2022. 460 cases made.” Wine Spectator 92 points
- Tablas Creek Vineyard Esprit De Beaucastel 2009 Product #25145 (In Stock)
-

"I am thrilled to see the 2009 Esprit de Beaucastel burst from the glass with an exciting melange of dark red cherries, flowers, sweet herbs, mint and spices. Exotic spiced notes linger on the finish. The 2009 boasts serious intensity, richness and depth, but it remains quite tannic and in need of further bottle age. The vintage saw both frost and drought, two conditions that are a little unusual in the same year. Now that it is in bottle, the 2009 meets all of the expectations I had when I tasted it from barrel last year. The blend is 40% Mourvedre, 28% Syrah, 27% Grenache and 5% Counoise."Wine Advocate 94 points

Here's a bold, powerful, red from ultra-boutique producer Helen Keplinger. Very limited.
"Offers a sturdy, muscular mix of dried dark berry, loamy earth, espresso, graphite and cedar. This full-bodied red shows excellent depth, ending with tannins that reveal a touch of leather. Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah. Best from 2013 through 2023. 195 cases made."Wine Spectator 93 points
