- Quinta Do Noval Late Bottled Vintage 2011 Product #31430 (In Stock)
Ready to drink to night or cellar for a decade. Brilliant stuff from the great 2011 harvest.
"The 2011 Unfiltered Late Bottled Vintage Port, a typical Douro blend, was bottled in 2016 with a long cork and 101 grams per liter of residual sugar after five years in barrel. This is brilliant. Sappy, intensely concentrated, remarkably complex and beautifully structured, this young LBV has plenty of room to grow in the cellar, too. It is young, unevolved and capable of development. The complexity that it has now, with a trace of herbs, rhubarb and generally classic Port flavors, is a hallmark, but that will increase and become more varied with age. The tannic pop will also calm a bit more, not that this is undrinkable now. This reeks of potential. Noval is one of my favorite unfiltered LBV producers and this is a fine moment for it. With a few years of bottle age, it might even seem better as it acquires more complexity."Wine Advocate 93 points
- Quinta Do Noval Vintage Port 2011 Product #27566 (In Stock)
Beautiful stuff to cellar, but hard to resist right now.
"Deep, saturated ruby. Tight, high-pitched aromas of black fruits, minerals, spices, printer's ink and licorice, complicated by nutty and earthy nuances. Juicy, savory and youthfully imploded; not hugely opulent or sweet but a wine of great density and class, showing a pliant texture and no rough edges. This seemed even more intense after I swallowed it, showing a palate-drenching quality with no weightiness. Doesn't have quite the dimension or floral complexity of the Nacional but a wine of great finesse, and built for decades of life."International Wine Cellar 96 points
"The 2011 Quinta do Noval has wonderful precision on the nose with blackberry, cassis, intriguing flinty notes and a whiff of smoke. It might not possess the power of the Nacional but it has freshness to spare. That comes through on the beautifully composed palate, which is underpinned by fine tannins that lend it a silky smooth mouthfeel. There is real intensity here, but it is very controlled with superb minerality on the finish. Excellent."Wine Advocate 94-96 points
