- Dom Pierre Usseglio Chateauneuf du Pape 2013 Product #31749 (In Stock)
In a short vintage for Grenache, this has more Syrah than usual and a nicely smoky, peppery, style. Delicious now but you can hold some for 5-7 years if you want more earthiness.
"Black currant and cherry scents are complicated by suggestions of licorice and candied flowers. Pliant and expansive in the mouth, offering sweet dark berry and licorice flavors that are enlivened by a suggestion of white pepper. The floral note comes back strong on the finish, which clings with excellent authority and a hint of fine-grained tannins." Vinous (Raynolds) 91 points
"The straight 2013 Châteauneuf du Pape has lots to love with notes of black cherry, mulberry, leather and peppery herbs, medium-bodied richness and a rounded, charming style that’s ideal for drinking over the coming 7-8 years."Wine Advocate 90 points
"A racy style, with lively violet, bergamot and shiso leaf notes leading the way, followed by tangy raspberry and red currant fruit. A sanguine hint gives the finish spine, accented by lightly singed cedar details. Best from 2016 through 2022."Wine Spectator 90 points
