Chapoutier Bila Haut Cotes Du Roussillon Blanc 2012 Product #27053 (In Stock)
Chapoutier Bila Haut Cotes Du Roussillon Blanc 2012 Chapoutier Bila Haut Cotes Du Roussillon Blanc 2012

Better than the 88 point 2011 or even the 90 point 2010, this blend of tank-raised Grenache Blanc, Macabeu, and Grenache Gris is complex and floral but still nicely structured and fresh. Generous aromas of peach, apricot, honeysuckle, and pink grapefruit burst from the glass.  The flavors follow in a richly textured, but mouthwatering, wine that rides a beam of salty, chalky, mineral through a long, generous, finish.  As the Advocate said of the fine 2010, "What a fine introduction to Roussillon whites and terrifically versatile accompaniment at table this will make over the next 2-3 years if not beyond!"

Chapoutier Bila Haut Cotes Du Roussillon Villages 2011 Product #27054 (In Stock)
Chapoutier Bila Haut Cotes Du Roussillon Villages 2011 Chapoutier Bila Haut Cotes Du Roussillon Villages 2011

Michel Chapoutier's genius shows through clearly in this wildly over-achieving red, a wine that has made the Wine Spectator Top 100 list in two of the past three vintages - and could well make it again with a fine 2011 that Robert Parker couldn't resist rating this beauty 90 points last Fall. A blend of Grenache, Carignan, and Syrah from schist sites in rocky Roussillon, the 2011 is a muscular, concentrated, wine that retains just the right amount of lift and freshness.  Deep aromas and flavors of red fruits - cherry, plum, and fresh raspberry tart - gain complexity from notes of smoky earth and bitter chocolate.  Tangy blueberry/raspberry acidity adds freshness and makes this a great wine to pair with everything from pizza to most anything on the grill.  Wine Advocate 90 points

Chapoutier Bila Haut Occultum Lapidem 2011 Product #27055 (In Stock)
Chapoutier Bila Haut Occultum Lapidem 2011 Chapoutier Bila Haut Occultum Lapidem 2011

"Occultum Lapidem," Latin for "hidden stone", sums up what Michel Chapoutier is trying to capture at his superb Rouissilon estate - the hidden character and texture of the soil expressed in wine.  Made from Grenache, Carignan and Syrah grown biodynamically in stone and chalk soils, the super-ripe, hand-harvested, fruit here needs a year in large cask and small barrel to come into balance.  The result is a profound marriage of opulent richness, vivid energy, and stony, salty, minerality.  Give it a big swirl to reveal aromas of currant, blueberry, roasted meat, licorice, rosemary, and more.  At first rich, almost unctuous, on the palate it coats the mouth with black fruit, exotic spice, resinous herb, and mocha flavors that go on and on.  A whip of acidity and deep sense of stoniness hold everything in balance and a tangy, almost salty, brine-like, note emerges on the long finish.  Likely to improve and deliver even more pleasure mid-term, but no need to wait.  Grill some lamb or herb-rubbed pork or try an out-of-season cassoulet and drink this beauty right now.  Wine Advocate 94-96 points
