- Castello De Neive Grignolino Piemonte 2011 Product #27064 (In Stock)

Even though the color is dark pink, this isn't rose - it's just as red as Grgnolino gets! This traditional Piemonte grape delivers light, crisp, very fresh wine loaded with sour cherry and berry fruit with hints of summery rose petal and exotic spice. Grignoliono's sometimes biting tannins have been tamed here, making this a fantastic wine to drink cool from the fridge to quench your thirst or enhance any meal.
- Pecchenino Dolcetto Di Dogliani San Luigi 2011 Product #26246 (In Stock)
-
-
Another fine vintage for this rock-solid Dolectto that sings with pizza, pasta, and grilled fish. It's racy and taught with intense tangy raspberry and wild cherry aromas and flavors and just a touch of licorice. Solid grip on the finish where a hint of herb tea shows through. Not much comes into the US (less than 500 cases), so grab it while you can!
- Oddero Dolcetto d'Alba 2011 Product #26727 (In Stock)

An excellent Dolcetto, gutsy and earthy with bold black fruit (plum, cherry) and accents of roasted mean, lavender, and flowers. Well structured, but easy drinking, too.
"This red bursts with juicy cherry, raspberry and a touch of black pepper. Reveals some serious tannins underneath for support. Drink now through 2015.”Wine Spectator 89 points
- Ferrando Canavese Rosso La Torrazza 2010 Product #25689 (In Stock)

We're not going to sugarcoat it - this wine isn't for everyone. But if you want to try something fantastically authentic and more than a little wild, it could just be for you! Luigi Ferrando farms vines in the ridiculously difficult Carema DOC, about 2 hours North of Barolo in the foothills of the Alps. While he's more famous for his White Label and Black Label Carema Nebbiolos, we've fallen in love with this exotic, befuddling, blend of about 65% Nebbiolo, 30% Barbera, and the balance the local Neretta grape, all vinified in stainless steel.
"Wild" is the word I keep coming back to. The winemaking is clearly "wild" - natural yeasts, minimal intervention, a touch of oxidization and maybe even a little volatile acidity. The results, though, are wildly satisfying. You'll find bold, complex, aromatics of licorice, violets, black fruits and camphor with a touch of apple skin. Explosive in your mouth, with loads of wild berry (strawberry, raspberry, blackberry) fruit but also licorice, earth, spice and nettle flower. Fills up your mouth with flavor and delivers a big punch of earthy complexity on the juicy, wild, finish. Light, velvety, tannins complement the bright acidity to keep everything fresh and food friendly.
Every sip's a new adventure here, and it wouldn't surprise me if every bottle has a slightly different story to tell. Open one up and see what you find! - Vietti Barbera d'Asti Tre Vigne 2010 Product #26467 (In Stock)

Always one of the very best values in top quality Barbera, Vietti's Barbera d'Asti sings in the fine 2010 vintage. Bold aromas and flavors of black cherry, bitter chocolate, and a hint of balsamic in a wine that's creamy in the middle and brisk on the finish. Versatile at table, this works with everything from pizza to grilled sausages or chicken.
- Monchiero Carbone Barbera D' Alba Pelisa 2010 Product #27153 (In Stock)

Here's a zingy, fresh, Barbera that's loaded with fresh flower and sour cherry flavors and aromas. Bright and juicy with great energy all the way to the finish, where rose petal and blackberry notes linger. Great pizza, pasta or pork wine!
"This wine's blue fruit gains depth and complexity from a touch of Brett. It's savory rather than directly fruity."Wine & Spirits 91 points
- Vajra Barbera d'Alba 2010 Product #26913 (In Stock)
-
-
While the rating is a tad lower than deserved, the description is right on. A delicious, juicy, bottle of Barbera for sipping or table.
"The 2010 Barbera d’Alba is an attractive, mid-weight wine laced with sweet red berries, crushed flowers and spices. It is best enjoyed over the next few years, while the fruit retains its freshness. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2014."Wine Advocate 89 points
- Orsolani Carema Le Tabbie 2008 Product #26710 (In Stock)
-
-
Ferrando and Carema’s co-op produce the bulk of the meager 10,000 cases of Carema each year, but Gian-Luigi Orsolani makes a tiny bit as well – making this the only other estate-grown/bottled Carema you’ll find. The name “Le Tabbie” is local dialect for the “tables” or terraces perched on Carema’s mountainsides where Nebbiolo is grown. Orsolani harvests these grapes in late October and gives them a traditional, long, fermentation and maceration before aging for 2 years in large oak barrels, 1 year in smaller barrels, and 1 last year in bottle. All the wood is neutral – just letting the wine soften rather than imparting any oak flavor.
This 2008 Carema is softer and more open than Ferrando’s, although there’s still plenty of bright acidity and chewy tannins. As in 2007, a beautiful perfume of roses, red fruits, cinnamon and licorice jumps out of the glass with a note of Barolo tar emerging with air. In the mouth there’s plenty of cherry and strawberry fruit, but the wine is very pure and transparent with accents of rose petal, tar, truffle and mountain flowers. Very perfumed on the long, elegant, finish, where there’s so much going on that you just have to take another sip. Fantastic wine, even better value. - Oddero Barbera d'Asti Vinchio 2009 Product #26835 (In Stock)

Yet another terrific value in top-notch Barbera from the Oddero family. This is juicy, fresh, and mouthwatering on the long finish. Fine with pizza, better still with grilled birds.
"This is exuberant, with assertive tannins and a gruff cast to the cherry, blackberry and pepper flavors. Dense and juicy, showing balance and fine length."Wine Spectator 90 points
